The Challenge

The value of loans had continued to grow hitting a total value of KShs. 8.724Bn by end of January 2019 due to the sustained “Need Cash? Usitense” campaign while deposits stood at KShs. 1.89Bn. This situation presented a difference of KShs 6.83Bn between Loans and Deposits. While there were 15.9M customers who had opted-in to KCB M-PESA and had interacted with the product, only 2.83M (i.e 18%) of them were saving on KCB M-PESA.

The Solution

The ‘Weka Weka’ campaign aimed to show the value of saving small amounts at a time and building up a safety net, made possible with KCB M- PESA Target Savings Account. A little saving goes a long way. A deposits obilization campaign to drive savings on KCB M-PESA Target Savings Account
